WHO/Europe Climate Change, Green Health Services & Sustainable Development alert / Meeting of the Working Group on climate change and its impact on health (HIC)

On 9 December 2013, the 2^nd meeting of the Working Group on climate change and its impact on health (HIC) will take place in Bonn. 

This second meeting aims to:

• update on progress at national and regional level;
• discuss with HIC members their experience in EHP implementation;
• identify priority themes to be considered for the 2014 Mid-Term Review and the next Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health;
• identify and agree on possible areas for action and collaboration.

Nominations  to  HIC  were  received  from  38  Member  States  and  5  international organizations. 

Key conclusions from the first HIC meeting in June 2012 included the development of a draft discussion paper on “Climate change and health lessons learnt” prepared by the co-chairs and the WHO secretariat. 

This draft will be distributed prior to this second HIC meeting, which will be immediately followed by the Environment and Health Task Force (EHTF) meeting in Brussels.
